Building consumer trust in premium rate competitions with Fonix

0

Leading Telemedia aggregator Fonix has introduced a product that not only provides brands, merchants, media companies, advertisers and affiliates with an easy way to pick competition winners, but also offers the industry a compliant product that has genuine credibility – and that means consumer trust.

When a competition is over there’s still some serious work to be done. Not only do you need to pick the winner from a variety of entry points, but it’s vital to ensure that consumer trust is maintained as an integral part of the process! Many service providers have fallen foul of the process in the past, but even MNOs like Three like this product.

Three used Winner Picker for its Feel At Home SMS competition which asked entrants to Text ‘FAH’ to shortcode 64333 at a cost of £1.50 plus standard message – alternatively it was possible to enter by sending a postcard. Three offered three prizes, for one lucky winner. £18,000 cash, £5,000 Flight Centre vouchers and an LG entertainment package.

The Winner Picker product automates the process of handling many thousands of entries – in various formats such as postal, online, SMS and IVR routes etc. – then import them using a simple tools that allows the user to select single or multiple winners for any given competition.

The result of the picking process is impossible to manipulate or change – as the only way to draw again is to conduct another draw. So the competition is fair, entirely random and is designed a comprehensive audit trail in for full transparency throughout.

If a winner was chosen but it transpired that their entry was invalid, it can be invalidated and another winner re-picked. This is really useful if the entrants fail to complete a particular task or if their details are incorrect, or if the user subscribed to a mailing list but has unsubscribed by the time of the draw.

If you’re involved with developing or marketing response based premium competitions, then take a look at the forthcoming World Telemedia event in Marbella on the 18-10 October, where providers of mobile engagement and payment technologies meet for their annual international trade event.
