DCB set to grow at 13.5% between now and 2023 as streaming and esports adoption explodes

The Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) platform market is set to grow at a healthy CAGR of 13.5% between 2019 to 2026, thanks to the rising adoption of subscription video e-sports and live streaming.

According to the Direct Carrier Billing Platform  Market report from Data Bridge Market Research,, year-on-year growth for 2019 was 11.41% – and this is rising steadily, with 52% of growth coming from APAC.

The research goes on to outline how increasing adoption of subscription based digital content is driving the market growth, while high-speed internet and cloud computing infrastructure has also led to rapid market growth – which is set to continue over the forecast period.

Additionally, slow invasion rate of credit card in developing countries is also propelling the demand for the direct carrier billing platforms, while low revenue leakage and enabling secure payments is boosting the market growth.

The report does concede that various alternative payment gateways worldwide such as mobile wallet, payment systems, credit and debits cards and internet banking   are  hindering  the  growth of the market, but it does paint an increasingly rosy picture of the global demand for DCB.

The role of DCB is becoming increasingly central in the digital entertainment sector, with more people that ever using their mobiles to get online and their online presence to be entertained.

According to the latest Ofcom study in the UK, 81% of online time is spent on a mobile device, driven by news, information, entertainment and social.

Meanwhile gambling operators could see as much as 70% of newbie players using DCB to try their services, as outlined in the latest Telemedia Mythbuster white paper.
