With Telemedia8.1 Live – and Mobile World Congress – poised to get underway next week, the industry is sitting on a pile of innovations and issues. For starters, while 5G is starting to make its presence felt, talks are already underway as to what 6G might look like. Expect to hear more about that in Barcelona.
5G meanwhile is starting to sink its teeth into all sorts of industries. UK football club MK Dons is rolling it out in its stadium to trial how to better connect consumers. It is one of the first proper private 5G initiatives to get some use and could offer an interesting glimpse into how this network tech can be used outside of the carrier market.
Cookies Digital will be showcasing its esports services – Split Screen – at the show, extending its VAS and performance reach into new and exciting content markets.
Deutsche Telekom in Germany has extended its partnership with Zoom in Germany to create a bundle of new services, showcasing a rare glimpse into some of the new partnerships that MNOs are going to have to form to leverage 5G – and 6G – in an increasingly changed and digital world.
Messaging is high on the agenda at the show too, with Mobilesquared running a special conference on messaging across the 8.1 show. Exploring strategic drivers for exponential business messaging growth, leading providers will reveal how brands are moving up the messaging value-chain to help transform a $20bn industry into a trillion dollar behemoth. Hear from BT, Cisco, Kaleyra, SoftBank, MEF, Infobip and more.
However, while the world has gone digital over the pandemic, the rise in digital ad fraud has become alarming – set to hit $68bn by the end of this year.
So, there is much on the agenda at 8.1 and MWC – see you there!
