The International News Media Association (INMA) and the Berlin School of Creative Leadership today announced a partnership that will include a €20,000 “INMA scholarship” for the school’s executive MBA programme starting in 2015.

The INMA scholarship recipient will receive €20,000 tuition support for the Berlin School Executive MBA in Creative Leadership programme starting March 15, 2015, in Berlin, Germany. Up to three additional finalists may be eligible to receive €20,000 in partial tuition support.

Deadline to apply for the scholarship is December 1.

The global scholarship winner will also receive free registration to one INMA conference. The global winner and the three runners-up will additionally receive free associate membership with INMA for one year, giving them access to a range of benefits: strategic reports, case studies, blogs, insights, database, research, archives, peer-to-peer directory access, referrals, marketing campaigns, media industry headlines, and more.

The Berlin School of Creative Leadership is a vibrant laboratory for leadership in the creative industries. Many Berlin School participants in its Executive MBA programme have been on the front lines of helping to re-shape their news media companies – from newspaper or magazine publishers to independent bloggers, and from national public TV or radio broadcasters to 24-hour cable news channels.

“Few global organisations have done more to highlight best practices in news media transformation than INMA,” said Clark Parsons, corporate development director of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. “The Berlin School is proud to note that one of its EMBA programme graduates, Pit Gottschalk of Axel Springer, is an INMA Board member and influential industry thought leader. We’re excited to begin a partnership with this dynamic global community that is focused on finding the best ways forward in the news media industry.”

“INMA is pleased to partner with the Berlin School on an EMBA programme that addresses the needs of news media companies pushing executives to learn new skill sets and to become more platform-agile in the emerging digital ecosystem,” said Earl J. Wilkinson, executive director and CEO of INMA. “We hope this is the beginning of a multi-faceted partnership that injects creativity and digital enthusiasm into the news industry.”

Ideal scholarship candidates should be:
• Current INMA members or working at INMA member companies, though membership is not mandatory to apply for the scholarship.
• Accomplished senior executives in the creative industries with a strong professional background and track record of creative and/or business excellence.
• Entries will be judged according to their overall profile and EMBA application, as well as their response to additional INMA scholarship essay questions.
• Given INMA’s unique position as an arbiter of cutting-edge ideas and next practices in news media for both the traditional print and emerging publishing worlds, applicants need to demonstrate leadership (or leadership potential) in the sectors that INMA serves.

The Berlin School Executive MBA programme includes five compact two-week modules that can be completed in 12-24 months for a total of 70 classroom instruction days. The programme includes modules in Berlin (three modules), the United States (one module), and Asia (one module).

The scholarship winner is responsible for paying the remaining portion of tuition (total is €53,000 before scholarship funds are calculated), and financial assistance in the form of non-collateral loans to accepted applicants can be arranged via Prodigy Finance. Travel and accommodation costs must be covered by the scholarship winner.

The Berlin School of Creative Leadership (www.berlin-school.com) is the world’s first educational institute and think-tank dedicated solely to leadership for the creative industries: media, advertising, marketing, design, journalism, entertainment and digital.
