World Telemedia 2020 postponed until 18-21 May 2021… but Telemedia8.1 set to fill the gap

Having conducted extensive industry research into the likely impact of Covid19 on attendance levels and in consultation with sponsors, the organisers of World Telemedia are postponing this year’s show until 18-21 May 2021.

With continued concerns over possible international travel and quarantine restrictions, along with overall delegate safety and welfare issues, the management team have, perhaps inevitably, taken a similar line to many other event organisers in the sector.

In addition, the required level of social distancing would have a significant impact on the culture of an event that has largely built its reputation on a business networking programme.

“We’re obviously disappointed, but I’m confident that there will also be significant benefits to moving the event to May – not least that we can plan many more aspects of the show outdoors,” says Jarvis Todd, Managing Director.

He adds: “We also have a unique opportunity to innovate and rethink many trade show standards, including how online resources can actually complement live activities. Our latest venture Telemedia8.1 has been specifically designed to do just that. Not only will it support business by providing an ongoing contact and information exchange, but it will also be an intrinsic part of our future events – starting in Barcelona on the 2nd March 2021.“

What if you’ve already signed up?

If you have already signed up for this year’s event, all passes, exhibition, and sponsorship packages will automatically be transferred next year’s show. However, if for any reason you are unable to take part in May 2021 – you will be entitled to a full refund on request.

“These are certainly tough times for event organisers, so we’re incredibly grateful to have a customer based of loyal supporters who have all pledged their commitment to our new dates,” says  Todd.

“We fully intend to preserve the true spirit of our show whilst creating the safest possible networking environments for our attendees.”

More details on how next year’s show will be adapted to minimise the risk of infection from Covid19 will follow. In the meantime, the organisers are keen to stress that it is “business as usual” with exhibition, sponsorship, and conference opportunities on offer and a new “early bird” booking deadline set for 1st April 2021.

    Coming soon: Telemedia8.1

In the meantime, organisers are putting their skills and industry knowledge to work creating Telemedia8.1 to fill the gap this autumn.
